RATP

It's the anthem of Parisian transportation since 2005. The RATP’s sonic identity has become the brand’s heritage sound signature. Used for station announcements as well as on buses, the RATP sonic branding underscores all the brand’s communications and accompanies travelers with a distinctive, reassuring sound that has now become iconic for Parisians.

An iconic jingle

Challenge

To embody a transportation brand that continues to grow in size and diversify its services.

To ensure that people feel safe and well-informed, while strengthening loyalty and trust in the RATP, in order to stay ahead of the competitive urban mobility landscape.

To refresh a sonic branding that’s accessible to everyone and usher in a younger, more urban era.

Sonic concept

The RATP’s sonic branding is simple, soothing, and accessible, primarily composed of acoustic instruments.

Originally composed in 2005, it was refreshed for the first time in 2014, and again in 2023.

Now an integral part of the Parisian soundscape, the melody is, of course, preserved in this new version. This latest refresh is conceived as an urban stroll.

Still human and reassuring, this more modern version breaks the rhythm and plays with elements of electronic music.

Outcome

The station jingle is one of the most important and widely used adaptations for the brand.

Every time an important announcement is made, this jingle cues passengers for the upcoming message, making the sound both functional and unique to the RATP brand experience.
